One of the primary activities of the Association is public education through our Community Outreach Program.  The goal of the program is to educate the public on urban conservation practices that can improve the County’s water quality, air quality, soil quality, and wildlife habitat.  In addition, the program educates the public about the benefits of native trees, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers in order to encourage their use instead of introduced species which can become invasive.

Activities of the Community Outreach Program include: conducting workshops, field day programs, and seminars; sponsoring the Fishers Arbor Day essay contest; and participating in Arbor Day and other programs.

HCUCA President Dan McCord is shown receiving the 2007 Hamilton County Soil & Water Conservation District "Friend of Conservation Award" from SWCD Resource Conservationist Mark McCauley.  Dan and the HCUCA received the prestigious award for the dedication and service in promoting natural resource education in Hamilton County.

The HCUCA received the 2007 Soil and Water Conservation Society Hoosier Chapter "Group Conservation Accomplishment Award".
