One of the primary activities of the HCUCA is public education through our Community Outreach Program.  The goal of the program is to educate the public on urban conservation practices that can improve the County’s water quality, air quality, soil quality, and wildlife habitat.  In addition, the program educates the public about the benefits of native trees, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers in order to encourage their use instead of introduced species which can become invasive.

Activities of the Community Outreach Program include: assisting schools with the creation of outdoor education centers/schoolyard habitats; conducting workshops, field day programs, and seminars; sponsoring the Fishers Arbor Day essay contest; and participating in other programs.

The HCUCA received the Hamilton County Soil & Water Conservation District "Friend of Conservation Award".  The Award is provided for dedication and service in promoting natural resource education in Hamilton County.

The HCUCA received the Soil and Water Conservation Society Hoosier Chapter "Group Conservation Accomplishment Award".  The award recognizes activities that have resulted in improving the quality of the environment by direct efforts to advance the science of good land use.
