Benefits of Trees

Attract Wildlife: Native trees and shrubs provide nesting sites and cover for wildlife.  In addition, many native trees and shrubs provide nuts, seeds, and berries which attracts wildlife.  Many species of trees are also host plants for butterflies.

Environmental Benefits: Native trees and shrubs help improve air quality and soil quality.  Trees capture carbon dioxide and other gas pollutants.  Trees also reduce soil erosion, prevent harmful pollutants contained in the soil from getting into our waterways, slow down water run-off, and ensure that our groundwater supplies are continually being replenished.

Potentially Improve Property Values: According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry Community & Urban Forestry, the presence of trees in an area can improve property values 5% to 20%.

Create a Noise Buffer: The addition of trees in the area will help reduce the level of noise associated with nearby busy streets.
